Current Responsibilities

My current work is closely related to that of a data scientist. I mainly handle classification tasks using AI models so the general pipeline would be the following: (1) Understand the type of data that I am working with and do any required pre-processing; (2) Decide which types of models could work based on the type of data and complexity of the classification task; (3) Analyse the performance obtained from each model; (4) Once a few hypotheses have been tested, the next step would be to compile all results into a presentation to be shared and discussed with the team for feedback.

Sysmex Career

  • Entry - present

I am directly working in a team with the main goal of developing a product that can contribute to the improvement of the healthcare sector.

Q&A

Q. Why did you choose Sysmex?

After finishing my master’s degree, I decided I wanted to apply my knowledge in the healthcare sector. I was also interested in potential opportunities that could lead me to work in Japan. After doing some research, I realized that Sysmex could potentially fulfill both of my goals. What attracted me the most was their ambition to expand their newly created Life Science solutions by combining new cutting-edge technology with the expertise that has led them to be number one in the hematology field and pave a new way within the personalized medicine field.

Q. Could you tell me what you value about your work?

At the end of the day, one of the major drivers for innovation and self-fulfillment is to have the opportunity to directly contribute to the improvement of other people’s lives. To achieve this, I value a workplace that provides flexibility, trust, and room for learning.

Q. Could you tell me when do you feel the moment you motivated or happy?

When I read the constant effort that Sysmex’s employees around the globe put into helping others either through volunteering work, organizing workshops/seminars for education purposes, or through the development of innovative solutions that will reduce the burden on patients and clinicians.

Q. Do you have a message for students currently looking for a job?

Dare to try, despite the difficulties that you might think of when moving to Japan and working in a foreign country with a different language, the experience working in Sysmex is definitely worthwhile. The country has a lot to offer, the company has a lot to teach and hopefully, you can find your own way to contribute and thrive.
